児童英語サマーセミナー参加 part2
台風の接近を心配しながら、午後からIIEECのサマーセミナーに参加した。
今日は「Stimulating Small Classes Workshop」。少人数クラスをどう盛り上げこどもたちの学習意欲を高めていくか、がポイント。先日のワークショップ同様3時間の予定だったが、講師と皆の熱気でつい延長。16:30終了が気がつくと17:00過ぎになっていた。
まず、皆が感じる少人数クラスのAdvantages(優位性)とDisadvantages(否優位性)を討議した。Advantagesとして、生徒ひとりひとりをみることができ、適確なアドバイスが与えやすい、等があがった。Disadvantagesでは、大人数クラスと比べ、活気がなくなる等という意見が多数出た。そこで、このDisadvantagesをAdvantagesに変えていく方法を体験しながら、学んでいった。
数々の歌やゲーム、チャンツを説明してもらい、身体を動かしながら行っていく。皆で参加したり、グループに分かれたりと、歌やゲームの種類により参加する形態を変化させながら進行していった。
ワークショップの醍醐味は、ただ講師の話しを聞く「受け身」のものではなく、自分も「参加」し、会得できることだ。時間が許す限り、様々なワークショップに参加し、新しい風を常にクラスに運んでいきたい。
