児童英語サマーセミナー参加
3年前からメンバーになっている、IIEEC(Institute for the International English Education of Children)のサマーセミナーに参加した。
現在プーコズに通う小学生が使用している黄色いテキストブック(Reading & Writing Workbook)は、ここから出版されている。
私が参加したのは「Creative Storytelling & Activities Workshop」。朝9:30から昼12:30まで、休み無しで行われた。ワークショップが興味を引くものだったため、長丁場３時間ではあったが、全く疲れは感じなかった。
ワークショップでは、絵本をこどもたちにとって楽しく、かつレッスンに有効に活かすための方法を学んだ。
まず「なぜ、絵本の読み聞かせが大切なのか」「絵本を通して何を伝えることができるのか」「絵本の効果的な読み方は」など参加者と対話型で話しを進めていった。
そして、実際に仲田利津子氏(IIEEC創始者)が参加者を巻き込んで、絵本の読み聞かせを行った。私も、話の面白さ、テンポの良さ等、つい引き込まれて口からセンテンスを発していた。
絵本を読んだ後には、絵本を使ったアクティビティーを紹介。一粒で二度おいしい活用法。語彙やセンテンスも身につけて、より深く絵本を楽しめる。
絵本の魅力はつきない。次は何が起こるんだろう。絵本のそんなわくわくどきどき感がたまらない。そして、こどもの頃読んでもらった本は、今でも思い出に残っている。
