プーコズ特製トマトスープ
プリスクールのこどもたちと植えたトマトも、もう終盤。暑さで葉も黄色くなり、実も以前のように、次々とは赤くなりません。プーコズも夏休みに入ったため、トマトを取りに来るこどもたちもいません。
そこで、赤くなった残りのトマトをもいで、プーコズ特製トマトスープを作ることにしました。
今年のトマトは豊作
思えば、今年は皆で、本当にトマトを堪能しました。６月下旬から赤くなり始めたトマトを、ほとんど毎週のように収穫し、レッスンの最後にYummyTimeを設けられました。
今までトマト嫌いだった子が、私と競ってカットしたトマトを食べました。家ではあまり好んでトマトを食べなかった子が、お母さんが心配するほど、何個もほおばって食べていました。
「育てる」ことの意味
自分で植えたトマトは、格別の味がするのです。「育てる」という行為が、おいしさスパイスになって、特別な味をかもしだすからです。
今は便利な世の中で、お金を払えば、ほとんどのモノが手軽に手に入ってしまいます。そのためか、モノに対する有り難みや感謝の気持ちも薄らいで来ているようです。壊れても「すぐ買えるから」とか、残しても「いらないもん」の一言で終わってしまうことが、どんなに多いことでしょう。モノに対する興味もすぐ失われ、新しいモノばかりに気をとられがち。
でも、自分で「育てた」モノは違います。こどもたちは、毎週レッスンに来ては「トマト見てくる!!」と教室から飛び出して行ってしまいます。
植えた時は、自分より小さかったトマトの苗が、１ヶ月もすると自分の背を追い越している時の驚異。小さな黄色い花が咲き、やがて実がなるだろうわくわく感。これら全てがこどもたちの好奇心をくすぐり、食べる事への意欲を生み出していくのだと思います。
いただきまーす!!
さて、ことこと30分かけて煮込んだ特製トマトスープが出来ました。ブイヨンとお水を足しただけの、シンプルスープ。色づけにオクラを散らしました。
お味は……もちろんYUMMY!!
