映画「都会のアリス」
ビム・ベンダース監督のビデオを借りて見た。先日の「ランド・オブ・プレンティ」の監督作品だ。
1973年制作の古い映画。モノクロ。
アメリカを書こうとドイツから渡ってきた青年と、彼が偶然であった9歳の少女の話。
アメリカを書こうと渡ってきたものの、青年は何をどう書くかを考えあぐねてしまう。恋人に自分の悩みを切り出すと「あなたの人生を教えることなんかできない。」と追い返されてしまう。
映画はロードムービー。あちらからこちらへと、車や電車を使った移動中の出来事を、とつとつと描いている。ハリウッドムービーのように華やかな場面や驚かされるシーンがあるわけでも無い。
ただ、何をしようか途方に暮れていた青年が、少女にかかずらううちに、自分が進もうとする方向を見出していく。
「ぼくはミュンヘンで小説を書くんだ。きみは、どうするつもり？」
エンディングシーンで青年が少女に、迷いのない笑顔で言ったのが印象的だった。
