What I like about my self
小学生のこども達には「自分の好きなこと」というテーマで、冬休みのホームワークを出しました。
自分を好きになること、すなわち自分を肯定できると、自信を持っていろんなことに挑戦することが出来るからです。
で、どんな事をしているときが好きかという意図で
I like teh way I ride a bike.(自転車に乗っている時が好き)
という例文を提示しておきました。
こどもたちは、まだこのような文章を教室では習っていません。それでもあえて冬休みの宿題として出したのは、親御さんも一緒に関わりながら考えて欲しかったからです。
教室で全て教えたことを復習するだけ、という所から、ちょっと自由に親子で鼻つき合わせて「ああでもない」「こうでもない」と試行錯誤して欲しいなあ、との思いです。
だって、せっかく2週間ある冬休み。大いに!?こどもと英語に関わって欲しいんです(笑)。
で、今日はとっても素敵な文章に出会いました。これを読んで「ああ、このホームワークの意味があった。」とつくづくうれしくなりました。
小学校3年生の男の子T君です。
I like family. Because I am lonely, if they are not here.
(ぼくは家族が好きです。なぜなら家族がいなかったら寂しいもの。)

This sentense moved me so much!!(すっごく感動しちゃいました)
何をしてる時が好きか、という主旨にははずれているのですが(笑)、彼の日常の幸せ感が、じわ〜っと伝わってきて、思わず笑みがこぼれてしまいました。
自分のことをよく見つめて、そして表現すること、とっても大切なことだと考えています。
